Get Involved, The WGCA Needs You!
WGCA seeks to provide flexible opportunities that fit your schedule and interests. All levels of participation are valued and important. Your financial investment ensures that WGCA can make strategic Community Gifts that assure success for Alexandria’s children. Any time you can give helps to sustain and expand our collective community investment.
Please join one of WGCA's three committees and get involved quickly in the work of the Women's Giving Circle of Alexandria.
Community Service Committee: This Committee was formed in 2006 to provide external volunteer opportunities for WGCA members. This year, it will plan the second annual WGCA Community Day in February 2008 with ALIVE, The Campagna Center and perhaps more partners. Separately, this Committee oversees members who serve as a liaison or volunteer with one of our grant recipients: Healthy Families Alexandria, the Arlandria Playgroup and Hopkins House. It also coordinates much-needed supplies for the new Center for Alexandria’s Children and our grant recipients. If you want a direct connection with those providing and receiving services in the community, this is the committee to join.
Resource Building Committee: This Committee is new this year (2007) and its members will help define its mission and goals. We expect it to identify and implement strategies to make community programs funded by WGCA sustainable. It will also review current WGCA operations. In addition, its members will build relationships with businesses and community organizations and some Committee members may engage in advocacy work.
Gift Committee: This Committee is at the heart of the WGCA's mission and manages our community gift process as it collaborates with community leaders, identifies high priority issues, researches potential solutions and programs, and makes specific grant recommendations to the WGCA Board. It meets monthly, requiring more time and participation than some of our other committees.
